If you are sick of ”Real Housewives of…” and The Kardashians, travel through decades of fashion with the help of these movies tonight.
Rear Window 1957 – Grace Kelly is the glamorous girlfriend (who struts around in couture and reads Harper’s Bazaar) of a serious photographer, James Stewart, who is stuck in his apartment with a broken leg for the summer. In true Alfred Hitchcock spirit, the two as a team solve a mysterious murder case which they witness across the street.
Funny Face 1957 – This is one of Audrey Hepburn’s many stylish lead roles thanks to Hubert de Givenchy who designed almost all of her film costumes. It’s funny and colourful in Paris where Audrey and Fred Astaire fall in love in the classic model-photographer set up at a fashion magazine. Legendary Harper’s Bazaar Editor Caramel Snow helped out with the film to make it as life like as possible!
Breathless 1960 – Director Jean-Luc Godard is considered one of the most influential French directors as Breathless is part of the genre New French Wave. This category was born in the 50s & 60s when directors put social and political issues on the screens and experimented with the traditional film form. This is a dramatic Parisian love story between a criminal French man and an American woman.
Pink Panther 1963 – This movie takes you to glamorous spots in Europe where the clumsy police inspector Clouseau, Peter Sellers, chase a famous diamond thief. Cast’s costume is desgined by the one and only Yves Saint Laurent.
Annie Hall 1977 – Woody Allen directed and starred in this historical document of love in the 1970s. It is also a tribute to a beautiful New York city and 70s fashion. Annie Hall’s (Diane Keaton) masculine wardrobe became a fashion phenonemon. A must-see!
