“We want a world without poverty, so we work with local people to fight hunger, seek justice for women and education for children, and cope with emergencies.
Wherever there is poverty and injustice, in over 40 countries in Africa, Asia and the Americas, ActionAid is working to help people free themselves from poverty.”
ACT!ONAID is working towards the creation of a world without poverty, they do this primarily through working within these areas:
Hunger, Education, Women’s Right, Economic justice, HIV & AIDS, Emergency and Conflicts.
ACT!ONAID believes that poor and marginalised people should shape and take responsibility for their own development by identifying and claiming their rights. Strengthening local organisations is key to ensuring that poor people have a voice. ActionAid works with over 2000 partner organisations, ranging from small community groups to alliances and international networks.
GARITE feels that ACT!ONAID really do take action against poverty on many different levels. Furthermore, they make it so easy to get engaged, for example why not sign up for their ‘We use land for food and not fuel’ petition list? Its as easy as that! We will keep you updated through ACT!ONAID on other things YOU can do in order to make this world more equal
She may be fictional, but Serena Van Der Woodsen is one of the most well-dressed fictional characters to ever have graced our TVs in the popular series Gossip Girl – ”Your one and only source into the scandalous lives of Manhattan’s elite” – where rich 16-year olds are played by 25-year old models. We are also huge fans of the Queen B, Blair Waldorf, of course but for glamorous saturday night style, Serena is our go-to Gossip Girl.
A lot of gold and sequins, short hems, bare legs, low cleavage and Louboutins is Serena’s uniform on a Saturday night (Monday’s uniform too in fact!) and as you probably won’t be driven around in a limo on the Upper East Side this cold evening – might we suggest just adding tights and a faux fur coat to rock the look.
GARITE have fallen head over heels for the latest Louboutin heel – Pivichic. Cut out styles have been popular in both clothing and footwear the past season and these fit perfectly with the trend. And they would fit perfectly on our feet too!
We love the hot pink ones that Sarah Jessica Parker was spotted wearing to the New York City Ballet Luncheon. She wears the heels, boldly, with a blue Mischa Nonoo coat. This is a tricky look to pull off but SJP does it well.
Beyoncé have once again regained her rightful place as Queen of everything. The Queen B performed at President Obama’s inauguration, then at the half time Superbowl show and HBO have just launched the very intimate documentary ”Life is but a dream” – a candid insight to the superstar’s hectic life.
Her new studio album is also in progress, she will tour the globe later this year in the anticipated Mrs. Carter World Tour AND she graces the cover of Vogue’s March 2013 Power Issue. It is safe to say that the lady from Texas is on top of the world.
The mother of one wears the best of the best, from Oscar de la Renta to Marni I don’t think we even have to tell you that she looks stunning. She talks about motherhood and a powerful quote from the article by Jason Gay is: ”After giving birth, I really understand the power of my body. I feel a lot more like a woman. More feminine, more sensual. And no shame.”
All hail the Queen B!
In Oscar de la Renta.
